One of the reasons I became a planner is that I saw so many totally unique couples try to fit inside traditional, carbon copy, cut and paste, my mother made me, ‘must-do’ days. Must? As far as I’m concerned, the only thing you MUST do is enjoy yourselves as you celebrate a public declaration of love for each other. The rest is up to you. OK, us as together we CREATE tradition.

A wedding today should incorporate unique moments or creative twists that leave the stamp of the couples’ personalities on the whole experience. I am thrilled that 21st Century nuptials involve such diverse fusion of culture, ethnicity, religion and social class not to mention the uncharted territory of same-sex unions. This invites amazing opportunities to create new, personalized traditions that, in addition to unifying the couple, have the potential to unify cultures and communities as well.
